I don't think it just has to do with books and authors. Somehow the internet has given some people permission to be downright cruel all in the name of having a voice or perception. I think that's unfortunate.
I agree completely. Even with a name and blog there is a certain amount of anonymity that is afforded by the internet that allows people to be cruel (a perfect word for it) without any responsibility.
And I think some people want to have a say on every popular blog, just because they can.
