It was a beautiful day. The blossoms were in full bloom. Tourists in great moods thronged to the tidal basin. Everyone smiled. I managed to hop the metro with no problems, stroll around D.C. like a pro, and even have an unexpected lunch with my husband.
But mostly it was just me and my camera.
So here are just a few of my favorites from the day.
Happy spring!
Thank you for sharing these. Although I drive by on my way into work, like many things, I never take the time to enjoy them. My misguided focus is on the increased traffic, etc.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure it's misguided... it takes some hefty concentration not to run over hoards of those tourists!! And to see around the loads of buses.
ReplyDeleteYou know, in all the years of living here (17, I think, between being a kid and now), I've only gone twice. It's just too much of a headache to brave the crowds.
Of course, yesterday I went by myself and it's much easier to navigate that way.
And since I don't work in the city, it was the only way I was going to see them other than on the news!
They are absolutely beautiful. You found the right day and perfect setting. You are so talented.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to keep this PG and not say anything about one picture in particular.
Kerri - lol!!
ReplyDeleteI have a few photos that are without a doubt not PG. Through the lens it doesn't look like anything but a branch of a tree. On the screen... enough to make me blush seriously!!
:)
Those are great. It's nice that there's color on the trees somewhere in the world. Hopefully the snow up here will be gone soon.
ReplyDeleteI thought about this when I was out in Vancouver two days ago and the trees were budding! It's still slimy and brown in Ontario!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder that all the beautiful is on its way...
Stunning Heidi. Makes me wish I still lived in DC...
ReplyDeletePatti and Heidi - your days are coming. Honestly, the blooms will fall off on Tuesday (cold and wicked rain) and then it will be bleak here again for another two months. That's why it was so important for me to get out there!
ReplyDeleteSoapbox - thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you liked the photos. Out of the week they were in bloom, there were only two days it wasn't raining. Beautiful? yes. Worth living here for? probably not!
