Keep Moving Forward...even if that's in circles!

This is going to be short. Life has got a hold of me and this new year is proving to be, in the words of Frosty's magician, busy busy busy.

I am in the in-between place. I am sure God is calling me to write. I am not sure where he is planning on taking me in that process. I have a book done and ready to go, and another idea ready to put on paper. I am querying, waiting, writing, waiting. In Biblical terms, I am in the desert.

In the Old Testament, God called the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and promised a land for them. But before they reached that place, they wandered in the desert forty years. Wondering why they left Egypt, and wondering if they'd ever make it to the Promised Land.

Beth Moore, in her study of the book of Esther, states that we, like the Israelites, are most vulnerable to attack - to doubts and despair - when God has pulled us out of our comfort zones where we are and set us on a path to someplace new - where we are not yet.

I am in that place. Between where I was, and where I want to be. I have to keep reminding myself of those clear signs that this is where I should be, and to be patient. And persistent.

And hoping it doesn't take forty years!

  2. Jen - keep saying it girl, keep saying it!

Shelli - pushing is right! It's a lot of effort! I like your blog. I don't think I've commented yet, but I'll get around to it. These last weeks have been crazy for me. I'm kinda reading on the run right now! I should settle in for a while at yours - there is such a lot of great info there!

    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. It's a test of how much we want something, how much we're willing to push forward. Once we're past that point we look back and say Aha! That's what that was all about.

  4. kerri - I think we have a tendency once we get somewhere to forget how hard it was to get there! It's great when we can say, it was because of all that work and waiting and patience and perseverance!

Writing - publishing - never really lets you forget how hard it is. You are always back at the beginning after each success. Why do we do this again??? :)

  5. Hang in there, Heidi! I firmly believe that it's those of us who hang in there (there are very few "overnight success" stories!) who really make it!! When you come out to visit Randy and Karma, I'll show you all of my rejection letters...

    Plus, I *love* that you're quoting Frosty's magician! :)

  6. Kimberly - I know it's true about those who persevere. it's interesting to go back to some of the old Miss Snark blogs and see how many people were commenting there that aren't writing anymore.

I've always been one of those who didn't stick to things if I wasn't successful at them - Like why bother wasting time at something I'm not good at when I could find something I am good at? But this... I think I'm good. It just takes time to get agents to get on board with me! :)

    It's a roller coaster ride.
