A Child's view of Royalty

In case you hadn't heard, there was a wedding today. A royal one. Which brought to mind a discussion between two of my kids this week I thought I'd share, just for the fun of it.

My youngest was sorting through our Disney princess movies, which shockingly she's not seen in her memorable lifetime due to the fact that she has an older brother that can always talk her into watching something else. But as we're soon heading to DisneyWorld, I wanted her to have that exposure - every little girl should at least know about Cinderella and Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

So we are going through the movies, and my youngest comments, "All the princes look the same. The princesses look different, but it looks like they just used the same prince in every movie."

To which my son, in all his wisdom, tells her, "That's because its never about the prince."

How early boys learn! :)

I have my own celebration this weekend: the 17th anniversary of my own wedding, one which was much less grand, but just as joyous.

Have a very happy weekend!

  1. My daughter LOVES anything princess. She's a little too young to understand the "royal wedding" though. ;) I didn't really watch it, although I've seen a few pictures. Her dress was beautiful.
Congrats on 17 years!! That is awesome! :)

  2. What a smart boy! :-) I had heard, though, that if Kate and William had had their way, it would have been a small family affair. But I guess when you're a prince, that just doesn't happen.

My daughter was into the Disney princesses for perhaps a year. Now she wants nothing to do with them. The tomboy has taken over!

    Enjoy your weekend. :-)

  3. I'm going to Disneyworld this fall! My daughter is too young to get prinesses, though. It will mostly be for my son. And your son is genius.

I'll agree with Jessie, your son is a genius.

    We're 15 this year... crazy.

  5. LOL! Too funny!!!!! If you can, try and have her watch The princess and the Frog (GREAT movie!!) and then do the meet n greet with Princess Tiana in Magic Kingdom-gotta get there early- but it was probably the best character experience we've ever had at Disney World!

Congrats on your anniversary! My 13th is in September!

  6. Bah, ha, ha! Oh yeah, baby. It's all about the princess. That's so funny! What a wise son you're raising.

Not to be cliche, but you will have such a magical time at Disney. It's awesome!

  7. LOVE IT!! I think there's a princess in all of us, no matter what people say :) And happy 14th is today!
